The small museum was opened in June 2004. It represents on approx. 100m² of exhibition space equipment which was used in virological research, vaccine production and diagnostics. The museum’s exhibition is amplified by items on loan and endowments of regional veterinary medicine. Interested visitors may obtain noteworthy information on the development of Riems covering the  period from 1910, when Friedich Löffler started his research work, until today.
